Sporadic: Logged-in user does not have access to this API

CM cannot open parent profile in SB+. I can for some parents, can’t for others. Not clear why.

I’m actually trying to get the BSA ID of duplicate accounts, but I can’t get to one of the dupes! Is there another way to see BSA ID in SB?

I have tried this on multiple computers/browsers, so I don’t think it’s a cache issue.

This is saying you don’t have the appropriate permissions to access one of them.

Why would I have permissions for some parent accounts but not others?

How do I see this user’s BSA ID?

The original issue of identifying accounts to be merged is solved, but there are several parent accounts that I can’t open as the CM/Pack Admin. What is the reason for this?

@BenMason might be worth trying > Go to unit Roster in Scoutbook > Click your name > click Admin > click Update - that might solve it - this will reset your Admin position

I tried this and did not find success. I tried logging out/in, another browser, etc. Still getting same API error.

You may even need to wait a day after updating your admin position before the permissions reset in scoutbook plus.

Ok thanks I’ll give it another try tomorrow.

Still not working.

Is it possibly a user-account issue? Here’s one of the accounts I’m trying to access but getting API error. BSA Member ID: 14762288

It’s my spouse’s account, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to see the BSA number.

I’m experiencing the same issue with one member only. The father of MID 141199770 (I don’t know the parent’s MID because of the issue).

I don’t see the issue with anyone else. I’m the CC. Edit to add: they joined very recently, but I can see the Scout and the mother’s profile without issue.

@BenMason I think the issue might be that your spouse has a BSA member ID number that belongs to council 571, but the unit is in council 662.

@RyanTashma Please try again.

Ok, I think that’s exactly it. Somehow both of our accounts initially came in under 571. Mine shows 2 571 IDs (2 initial scout registrations) and then the 662 that I guess I got when I registered myself. Hers only shows 571. How do I get her a 662 Member ID? We’ve never had any scouts in 571.

Another problem account is the mother of scout 141193097. This scout transferred in from another council, and mom is still registered there. Dad transferred and I can see his account.

But is this the same issue as what happened with the account that was merged into member id 141303863? That was a parent that accidentally registered two accounts.

Why is this just now becoming clear? Was this not a restriction before? I have never had this problem until recently and I have to imagine I’ve clicked into my wife’s profile before.

Is there some way that I can address this? Not seeing member IDs or contact info is frustrating - I was trying to call the mom and couldn’t get her. And BSA IDs are how I request help here!

Thank you for digging into this for me.

@JenniferOlinger Fixed. Thanks!

I suspect it’s because you are near a council border. Try asking your council if they are able to create a BSA member ID number for your wife and add the parent / child relationships using Registrar Tools. After her new BSA MID is created, we can fix her accounts.
