@GRACEANDERSON - I am not sure what your particular issue or concerns are. They do seem a bit disjointed. If a person on their own takes YPT that gives them nothing more than YPT and a BSA ID. If they are not a registered leader in a unit nor a parent of a scout in a unit they have nothing…
I am also having a problem with two leader having yellow triangles in ScoutBook, but their IDs are the same in both Scoutbook and the Unit Membership Roster (scouting.org).
The two member numbers are:
135350558
13714585
Matthew,
These leaders are an Assistant Den Leader and Lion Guide. There is a known problem where these positions are being flagged incorrectly. We are working with the BSA to get this resolved.
First, it takes more than YPT to be a registered leader because it includes a criminal background check and reference checks. This has nothing to do with making money.
Second, only a person who is registered as a trainer with your Council can conduct the in-person YPT training.
Hi Ed,
Replied to you & the SUAC via private message a few days ago but haven’t heard anything back or seen anything posted in the forum thread. Are the developers affected by the issues in Texas or should I have received a reply by now?
If it will be a few more days, should I just start adding permissions to the duplicate account without a yellow triangle in the meantime to ensure continuity since we are getting close to the 1st?
Thanks again, Andrew
Thanks for the reminder Andrew. The power outages in TX have impacted our ability to investigate account issues. I have replied to the previous message.
I cannot express how frustrated I am about this. We have multiple leaders that the BSA has created duplicate accounts for. Leaders have been trying to get this resolved all year. Now it appears the duplicate account with the invalid email addresses of “changeyouremail@scoutbook.com” are the ones being marked to stay while the fuctional accounts that people in our unit are able to log in with are bing marked for removal. We have been trying to get this fixed and now matters are just going to get worse. I wish BSA would fix what is broken before breaking things even more.
@VC2 -i can state that in the three units under our CO there have been no duplicate leader issues. It would seem to me that there is a process that is flawed. With regard to trying to get them fixed what has been done and who has engaged.
I can see duplicate leader instances occuring when an application is turned in for an existing adult and the name is different and/or the existing BSA id was not noted. Likewise the creation of accounts I my.scouting will assign an id number which if not known creates the prior issue when an application is submitted.
Please list the I numbers for the leader involved.
Oh my, are you and I in the same council? Our council has let go all the good people that knew what was going on. It’s been a struggle.
A post was split to a new topic: Can’t Complete YPT
Hi all, just thought I’d share some things I figured out as my own account got fixed (thanks Ed!). I had two duplicate accounts, which Ed kindly merged. I am a pack admin normally - I couldn’t get back in (other than as a parent) initially - my position got ended when the accounts were merged, but I asked another pack admin to remove the end date, and I had access again.
However, I still had the yellow triangle, even though I am currently registered as the NMC for the pack. So I went back into My Positions again, and updated my positions (so they agreed with those listed in the roster in My.Scouting), and presto, yellow triangle was gone.
tl;dr - if you are a Pack Admin/Den Admin who has a yellow triangle, merge any duplicate accounts, then make sure your current leader position (as shown on the roster) is shown in Scoutbook.
Is there anyway to get an extension to the March 1st deadline? I have 7 adults with triangles that didn’t show up until mid-February. I emailed council almost same day I saw them over a week ago to see what was wrong and no response. I finally called on Friday and the person said she was too busy with re-charter paperwork to respond to emails. I did my best to keep her on the line and walk me through the process to get an Adult registered with the yellow triangle.
We have several “helpers” for unit advancements and outdoor activities that need to be registered, along with a Treasurer and Patrol Admin. The process, complete YPT, complete online Adult App at Beascout, Committee Chair then has to login in My.Scouting.org and approve, then the Chartered Org Rep (who is involved in church and not really our daily Scouting program or knows a login) has to login to approve, then it goes to council (to the person who is busy with re-charters).
We just started converting to Scoutbook on February 1st and working hard to get leaders/parents connected with logins, get parents and leaders trained on SB, etc. and just overwhelmed with all the steps involved.
I get the reasons and fully support, but I just am unable to jump through all those hoops in a short period of time as a volunteer and knowing the road block will be at council anyway to approve and input those adults. Can we extend to March 15th or 31st to allow councils to finish their re-charter work, which for our council is end of February deadline? Please consider.
I am the committee chair and pack admin for my pack. When I check the roster in my.scouting I am listed with my bsa# and committee chair as my role, in scoutbook I am flagged with the yellow triangle. All of my YPT and training is current and on file through my.scouting and our council. We currently have 8 leaders in this exact position - is anyone else experiencing the flags and they are current on all background checks, YPT and fully trained?? I have emailed our council registrar but they are a little overwhelmed with recharter in process.
The March 1 date has been split into 2 pieces and pushed back to March 15 and April 12 as issues with the indicator are worked out. Updates can be seen at:
It has been fixed! Thank you!
