Mike - as it has already been stated by Rick Hillenbrand, the CIO is taking a personal interest in this problem. It is related to the LMS and not My.Scouting, and it was a contract programmer’s error. They are working on it, but resources are a bit scarce with the cuts made in Irving. So, let’s not say “no one seems to care…”
Understood. It may take a bit of time. Let’s hope for the best, stable outcome.
Thanks.
Here is what we have heard back on this - (not that I fully believe it) - BUT IT is saying the vast majority of users that have issues do not complete all 4 parts - usually missing one in the middle that is still marked complete from 2 years ago but is out of date.
So that is at least worth checking on.
Maybe when you look at it, but I did all the modules, and it didn’t record them and yes, the older modules from my completion last year were still there. The issue is with the system recording the current completions.
Craig,
I sent you a private message. Click on your avatar in the upper right corner.
Where do you find the “Legacy System Training Validation” ?
thanks
Menu → BSA Web Links → Training Validation
Select:
- “All Training” and
- Search by “Member ID”
The individual modules are: SCO_3008, SCO_3009, SCO_3010, SCO_3011, and the overall completion is: Y01.
It takes me back to the menu page
@CD32 I will report the bug, but try opening in an incognito / private window.
Jennifer, Incognito worked!
Thanks!
@JenniferOlinger - thank you for re-stating my post from 17 days ago in this thread. Private browsing windows are the ONLY way to go when using My.Scouting.
The BSA says the root cause of the issue has been fixed. The problem occurred when modules were completed in succession.
One of our leaders tried doing YPT yesterday, didn’t follow the instructions about signing out, using incognito, etc. I just did an import into Troopmaster to see what would be imported. What I got was:
When I go look in my.scouting, I can’t see the modules in the list as completed, except when I use her BSA ID # for the Training Validation.
Craig,
I removed your screen shot because it contained personal information. The training developers have identified the root cause and are working on a fix for the issue. They will also try to recover any completion data that was not properly recorded.
From the folks in IDG “Users can now take YPT without issue. The course completed date has also been added to the course summary page.” They are still looking into going back to fix those that got caught up in the errors that were happening.
Mr. Hillenbrand, thank you for the update. Did IDG offer any caveats to running the course, such as browser, use private/incognito mode, log out between modules, etc? I have had two leaders go in this week since getting the okay earlier this week, and they experienced the same issues I brought up earlier.
Craig,
The BSA thought the issue was fixed when we first posted the statement saying it was working. Apparently the vendor did not push all of the code into production. We have been told the fix has since been released. The issue had to do with taking modules back to back without logging out of my.scouting.org between them.
BSA should not just be blaming the 3rd party developer on this. It would have been real easy to post a notice about this on my.scouting.org. I didn’t see anything about this until after retaking the entire series in succession on 9/23. If the login screen on MSO had a notice about this, then a lot less people would be complaining. I looked at what legacy says I received credit for and it says I only got credit for the first one, am I going to have to retake the other 3 again or are they going to fix it automatically?
We have a new parent that volunteered to be our Quartermaster, that is rethinking this because they encountered this issue.
I completed my YPT under my old bsa id, and an email was sent showing confirmation of completion, but when I look in myscouting, org since I updated to my new primary bsa # it is not showing completed. How do we resolve?
There was some advice here on how to merge BSA ID’s (referred to as MIDs in the post) where there is different training under different ID numbers.
